Why travelers love it
“Powder-soft Maroma sand and polished service for couples who want calm”
Maroma Beach is the genuine article — talcum-white sand, glass-clear water, and unusually little sargassum compared to other Riviera Maya stretches — and the service consistently lands closer to true luxury than the average all-inclusive. Food quality and staff warmth come up again and again in reviews, though guests note value is high-end and the property leans calm rather than lively.
Food & drink
StrongDining punches at a genuine luxury tier, with Oceana's seafood and Bordeaux's French menu drawing repeat praise across a lineup of stylish à la carte venues. Occasional off nights and weak cocktails keep it from flawless, but plentiful options and vegetarian/vegan-friendly menus make it a headline strength.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Oceana seafood is a standout
- Bordeaux French menu draws repeat praise
- Plentiful vegetarian and vegan options
- Terrace seating at nearly every restaurant
Heads up
- Drinks can be inconsistent
- Dress codes strictly enforced
- A few dishes miss the mark
Dining overview
Eight restaurants cover French, Italian, Mexican, seafood, Pan-Asian/hibachi, a steakhouse, and an international buffet, plus a 24-hour Coco Café for coffee, pastries, and late-night ice cream. Reviews consistently rate the food well above typical all-inclusive standard, with the Asian and seafood venues drawing the strongest praise and Italian getting more mixed reactions.

- Clear turquoise water
- Walkable beach even in sargassum season
- Attentive beach butlers and attendants
Heads up

Maroma is widely considered one of the best beaches in the Caribbean, with fine white sand, calm turquoise water, and a reef offshore that keeps things swimmable. Guests routinely call out how little seaweed makes it ashore here compared to nearby resorts.

“Everything is as it should be, congratulations!”
★★★★★
“Paying preferred club price for a room with no privacy to the ppl walking on the sidewalk. Room 2610 smells like mold/mildew. Management has been appalling. First and last time here. Do better Maroma! Our stay here has just been mediocre. So much so, we are actually leaving an entire day early just to get back home and out of this place. Our concerns were met with sarcastic responses and we had to suggest certain efforts be made to make the room experience more enjoyable...not one staff...”
★☆☆☆☆
“Had a great time here even with construction going on. Service is above average for most all inclusive resorts.”

Know before you book
- pricey for the category and some feel it doesn't fully hit 5-star
- Italian restaurant gets mixed reviews
- 24/7 room-service cart traffic can be noisy in lower swim-out rooms
- occasional reports the experience falls short of luxury expectations
What you should know
What to Know
Skip the timeshare-style sales pitch on arrival, book restaurants and spa early, and expect a fair bit of walking between buildings and venues. Confirm your room category directly with the resort if you booked through a third party.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Preferred Club adds real value, not just a label
- Dress codes enforced at dinner (pack long pants)
- Concierges will pre-book restaurants and spa
- Accessible, wide sidewalks across property
Heads up
- Timeshare-style presentation pitch on arrival
- Third-party bookings can cause room category disputes
- Long walks from far buildings to restaurants
- Spa capacity tight, book on day one
WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up
- Sargassum seaweed can wash ashore April–August along the Riviera Maya, though Maroma is typically among the least affected beaches
- June–November is Atlantic hurricane season, peaking September
- Late December through early January and Spring Break weeks see higher occupancy and pricier rates
CUN airport is roughly 35–45 minutes south by car; pre-booking a private transfer is smoother than the airport taxi queue. Tipping is not required but is appreciated and noticeably improves an already attentive experience. Reserve specialty restaurants on arrival, especially Portofino and the hibachi at the Asian venue. Request a higher floor or a building away from service paths if you're a light sleeper — room-service carts run 24/7 along the lower corridors.
Good to know
- Strict adults-only — guests must be 18+
- Maroma Beach has unusually low sargassum compared to most Riviera Maya beaches, but it is not immune in peak season
- Preferred Club is a meaningful upgrade here — private beach area, better breakfast/lunch, and lounge access
- No reservations needed at most à la carte restaurants, but specialty venues can have waits at peak times
- Ground-floor swim-out rooms near service paths can hear room-service carts overnight
