Barcelo Maya, MX
The pool complex is the resort's ace: enormous, well-maintained, with an adults-only option, swim-up bar, and daily Johnny-led aqua aerobics that pull in every generation.
Watch out: One report of debris in water
Barcelo Maya, MX
Multiple pools including infinity edges, swim-up suites, and adults-only zones keep loungers plentiful even in peak weeks. Pool bar service is a repeat highlight, with named bartenders regulars come back for.
Watch out: Water can run cool for some guests
Cap Cana, DO
The pools are the safety net when seaweed shuts the beach: ample seating, attentive drink service, and a spectacular main deck. Swim-up suites and Preferred Club pools give you a quieter option.
Watch out: Towel-saving on chairs still happens
Playa Mujeres, MX
Multiple pools including age-segmented kids pools, a lively main pool with activities, and coveted swim-up suites keep the pool scene strong. Service is attentive on the adult side but stretched thin on the family side.
Watch out: Family pool often has just one server
Puerto Juarez, MX
Pools are the true anchor of this resort: multiple large pools, an excellent swim-up bar, poolside entertainment, and hammocks make them the go-to when the beach disappoints.
Watch out: Water can run cool
La Romana, DO
Two well-maintained pools do the heavy lifting here: one lively with daily activities and a pool party, the other calm for reading and unwinding.
Watch out: Pool closes at 6 PM
Uvero Alto, DO
The pool scene is the property's signature: 23 pools ranging from a lively main pool with ocean-view bar to quiet rooftop plunge pools and swim-out suites. Loungers are almost always available.
Watch out: Rooftop pools chill quickly at sunset
Cancun, MX
Multiple large pools with shade options, poolside zumba, and swim-up bars anchor the daytime scene, and Prestige guests get a private pool. Service is fast, though a few reviewers flagged uneven treatment at the swim-up bar.
Watch out: One report of discriminatory service at swim-up bar
Cap Cana, DO
Multiple pools including a serene Club-Level pool with cabanas and a lively main pool with aqua bike classes and swim-up bar service.
Watch out: Premium pricing for the category
Cap Cana, DO
The pool scene is the resort's ace: deeper-than-average water, a strong swim-up bar, a lively main pool with activities, and a separate water park for kids. When the beach is out, the pools genuinely carry the trip.
Watch out: Club pool closes around 7pm
